I’ve totally had enough of the wild west.. I can’t get home soon enough!.. Back to my fellow east coasters who understand what it means to say “it’s right slippy out!”Don’t get me wrong, the money is insanely awesome but I really am starting to lose my mind from spending everyday doing absolutely nothing all by myself!.. I fly back to lil ol PEI in 11 days!...

34 shifts in and finally had my first patient!.. a nice 2nd degree burn to the wrist from a steam hose. Thing that sucks is that the dude waited almost an hour before even wandering over to see me.. AFTER he and the rig manager GOOGLED IT and thought you were supposed to lance blisters and put ice on it.. good god. and then they tried to get me to throw out my report because they didn’t...

Canada's worst drivers
Well, the oilfield medicine has been the boring, long, but very lucrative job I was expecting. However, the only action in my life lately has been driving to and from work. Drivers around here are unbelievable. I thought I left “Canada’s worst drivers” behind on PEI, but Alberta definitely takes the cake on that one! I have never had so many road scares as I’ve had in the past 2 weeks. I’m not a...

East vs West cabbies
One weird observation that I’ve had as an East Coaster living in Alberta is that taking a cab is oddly different.. When you take a cab on the east coast, you feel completely awkward if you don’t have a conversation.. The cabbies will talk your ear off about every topic under the sun! They’ll also insist that you ride up front with them.. As if its insulting to sit in the back....

Excited to finally get somewhere tomorrow and start getting paid! I’ve been shipping myself all over the place, covering half of Alberta! I’m so tired of travelling!

I start on a rig on the 16th!.. I was already out for a few days on a different rig, but the manager of that company is useless and just isn’t doing a very good job at running her company.. you have to give someone a little more heads up than 45 minutes.. when you have at least a 1.5 drive to get there! Anyways.. this camp I’m going to is supposedly huge! With EMRs, EMTs, paramedics...

well.. the cross Canada trip is over. It was long, mostly boring, but still fun! I saw a lot!.. we took 6 days to do it, driving about 10 hours a day and we tried to stay in the cheapest hotels. The first day we drove to Montreal, one interesting aspect of this day was that I learned how to drive a standard car.. ON a Quebec shared highway, easily one of the most terrifying moments of my life!...

Well.. tomorrow’s the day I leave for Alberta!.. Depending on ol Mother Nature ofcourse. Apparently some big storm is supposed to “wallop” the Maritimes with freezing rain and snow, so now I don’t know when we’ll get out of here!
